Skilled Volunteer Opportunities
Have a skill you want to use to help DC Habitat? We’re looking for skilled volunteers in every field from roofing to graphic design to architecture and more! DC Habitat maintains a database of skilled volunteers that we can call on when we have special projects and opportunities.
Want to get involved?
DC Habitat always needs volunteers who are willing to assist with administrative tasks in our office, such as helping with mailings, database updates and other organizational support. Opportunities are available Monday – Friday. Responsibilities and tasks include regular office tasks, small ongoing projects, data entry and filing, and other administrative support as needed.

- Commitment to completion of quality work and attention to detail
- Experience and ability to communicate clearly on the phone
- Pleasant demeanor and comfort interacting with the public
- Comfort, skill, and accuracy when using basic computer functions
- Available 4 to 8 hours/week between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, consistently for at least 3 months
- Willingness to complete a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement
Interested in becoming an office volunteer?
Lunch crews are an important part of the building process and are greatly appreciated by our volunteers and construction staff. Lunch crews provide food, beverages and utensils/plates/paper products for approximately 20 to 30 volunteers on scheduled build days. It’s a great way to say “thank you” to the individuals who work in all types of weather to build homes for deserving DC families. These meals should be simple, wholesome, and convenient for the workplace.
- Sandwiches or wraps
- Hot dogs & hamburgers
- Chicken & potatoes
- Tacos or burritos
- Please NO foods that can easily spoil
- Please include a vegetarian option
All lunches should be served with a beverage and a snack. In addition, lunch crews should provide plates, forks, napkins, etc. that are required as we do not have these items on site. Basic rules for food hygiene must be observed. Menu items that contain eggs, mayonnaise and/or any dairy product should be kept cold before serving to prevent the growth of bacteria. Likewise, hot foods should be served hot. Electricity can be secured on site, but serving conditions are very basic.
