Volunteer Spotlight: Ginny Taylor

Name: Ginny Taylor

Organization: National Presbyterian Church

Volunteer work of the day: Ginny was there with her husband, Clyde, to support the volunteer group from the National Presbyterian Church.

Involvement with Habitat: Ginny first got involved with Habitat for Humanity through a Habitat for Humanity International trip with her church. Her trip inspired her to get involved with the DC Habitat affiliate. She has been volunteering with us for the past four years!

Why Habitat? As a family, the Taylors are dedicated to social justice and philanthropy; her husband worked in the Foreign Service, and her son is also involved in social causes. She chose to work with Habitat because we are so well-known in the housing and nonprofit sector. “It’s a faith based organization,” her husband, Clyde, explains. As we walk through the current construction projects in Deanwood, Ginny says that “Habitat always builds sturdy, good houses… and they’re environmentally friendly.”

DC Habitat believes that everyone deserves a house they want to call home. That's why we work to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in the nation's capital by building (and rehabilitating) affordable, energy- and resource-efficient homes for people in need.
