A JRCWP Haiti 2011 Volunteer’s Experience

Habitat for Humanity of Washington D.C.’s volunteer service coordinator, Jenna Widmann, traveled to Haiti November 6th-12th to participate in the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. Partners with Calstar Products: Bricks for Green Building

Calstar Products, located in Newark, California, has donated over 131,000 bricks to the Ivy City development project towards 8 housing units. Their products contain 40% post-industrial recycled material, require 85% less energy to make, and generate 85% less CO2 than traditional fired clay brick and pavers. Through DC Habitat’s partnership with Calstar, we can continue our green building initiatives with every new unit. This video shares the importance of energy and resource efficiency and the positive impact it has on the sustainability of our homes.
