Partner Profile: Bloomberg

Bloomberg LP is a financial information and technology company founded on the idea of “getting things right”. This philosophy is applied not only in their work, but in their corporate culture as well. Bloomberg has maintained a focus on philanthropic initiatives since the company’s creation in 1982, and has worked with Habitat for Humanity both in the US and abroad. Bloomberg has participated in several Global Habitat Builds, in more than 15 cities, including Washington, D.C.

Bloomberg has partnered with DC Habitat for several years. In 2011, Bloomberg volunteers worked on three rehab units in the Ivy city neighborhood, showcasing the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. This year, Bloomberg’s volunteers worked on our 56th place build site.

“Community service is an integral part of Bloomberg’s company culture,” says Julisa Marmolejos, who works with Diversity, Inclusion & Employee Engagement at Bloomberg. “As a global company, Habitat for Humanity has provided us with an opportunity to engage employees across multiple regions by assisting hardworking individuals and families to become first time homeowners. Bloomberg has been a proud sponsor of Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. since 2010. Our employees enjoy volunteering their time to partner with Habitat staff and future homeowners and truly enjoying seeing a Habitat project through from start to finish.”

DC Habitat believes that everyone deserves a house they want to call home. That's why we work to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in the nation's capital by building (and rehabilitating) affordable, energy- and resource-efficient homes for people in need.
