The most popular volunteer opportunity is helping on the construction site. Many of us have been inspired by former President Jimmy Carter's example of picking up a hammer and helping to build a home.

*** We ask that you attend a new volunteer orientation before your first visit to the site. For more information about our "Nuts & Bolts" meeting please click here. *** |

In order to check the construction calendar for individuals, you will first need to take a moment and register. Then you will have the ability to check the schedule and sign up to volunteer online.

DC Habitat has many equally vital volunteer opportunities outside of construction. The following are committees that utilize volunteer support: |
| |
| |
This committee prepares educational materials and facilitates dialogue within the community around issues of affordable housing, homelessness, and community development. This committee also tries to link DC Habitat to local and national politicians and other community organizations which can affect housing policy in the Nation’s capital.

| |
| |
The Environmental Committee is tasked with helping DC Habitat for Humanity meet its environmental goals. The Committee implements the recommendations of Habitat for Humanity International's Better Built Program for the local DC affiliate.
| |
| |
The Family Partnership Committee organizes homeowner training workshops and pairs DC Habitat volunteers with homeowner candidates.
| |
| |
Members of this committee play a major role in deciding who lives in DC Habitat homes. Some of the volunteers bring expertise in mortgage lending and social services; others bring their organizational skills to help applicants complete their applications.
| |
| |
The Public Relations Committee seeks to create a link between DC Habitat and the general public, as well as the media, in the DC metropolitan area.
