Habitat for
Humanity was founded as a Christian-based organization, but is not
limited to Christians. We welcome people of all faiths as volunteers
and homeowners. To foster working relationships with congregations
of all creeds, DC Habitat has developed the Religious Partnership
Committee. Members of this group work with local churches, synagogues,
and temples to coordinate donations and volunteers, organize mailings,
and make presentations on the mission and work of DC Habitat.
The Religious
Partnership Committee regularly organizes groups from parishes and
congregations to volunteer on build sites, donate and serve lunch
to volunteers, and help with special projects throughout the year.
"...changed
how I related to the future homeowners, people who find themselves
in need of help. They are just like me, wanting a safe, warm place
to live for themselves and their families."
Gayle Hilleke, St. John's Church, Lafayette Square
