Step 1 - Current Volunteer Needs
While many people think DC Habitat only needs construction volunteers, there are actually a wide variety of ways to give of your time. No matter your experience or commitment level, we can use your help.
Construction
The most popular volunteer opportunity is helping on the construction site. DC Habitat's construction crew utilizes volunteers Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. almost year-round. We welcome your participation whether you are an experienced tradesperson or you don't know a sixteen-penny nail from a spackling knife!

Family Selection
Members of this committee play a major role in deciding who lives in DC Habitat homes. Volunteers bring a wide range of skills to this committee, from social service expertise to analytical skills for reviewing applications. This committee assists in the screening of applications and with visiting the homes of prospective homeowners to help determine need.
Currently Recruiting:
Family Partnership
The Family Partnership Committee pairs DC Habitat volunteers with homeowner candidates. These volunteer "partners" serve as the link between the candidates and the Habitat office. Partners answer questions and provide support in preparation for the home ownership process. Many partners work on the construction site with their homeowner family, helping earn sweat equity hours.
Currently Recruiting:
- Committee Members

Environmental
The Environmental Committee is tasked with helping DC Habitat for Humanity meet its environmental goals. The Committee implements the recommendations of Habitat for Humanity International's Better Built Program for the local DC affiliate.
