DC Habitat Soars with Support of US Airways

For more than five years now, US Airways has been a dedicated partner of DC Habitat, in the skies and well beyond.  The airline’s contributions help us do more than simply get from one place to another – they have afforded our staff the ability to take advantage of valuable professional development opportunities like conferences and trainings — in locations like Los Angeles, Texas, Chicago, and even Puerto Rico.  Opportunities like these have become more affordable since travel costs are greatly reduced through the use of US Airways’ gift cards for free flights.  This past year, the airline also helped cover travel expenses related to DC Habitat’s participation in the 2011 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, where our staff and volunteers helped to build hundreds of homes in earthquake ravaged Haiti.

US Airways gift card contributions have also been leveraged to help raise more than $100,000 in revenue at special events.  By using these cards as raffle/contest give-away incentives at events like the Capital Running races and the 2012 Art for Humanity benefit, DC Habitat has kept attendance and revenue high.  Thanks to USAirways for their ongoing support!

DC Habitat believes that everyone deserves a house they want to call home. That's why we work to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in the nation's capital by building (and rehabilitating) affordable, energy- and resource-efficient homes for people in need.
