Mykea Black

Mykea Black / Construction Crew Leader

Mykea was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and moved to Blacksburg, VA after completing high school. In Virginia, she spent time in trade school for painting before moving to California to  join the American Conservation Experience Conservation Corps where she enjoyed working with new people from different backgrounds every day on environmental projects. What Mykea loves most is being able to help make a change in this world, whether through trail-building, home-building, or a simple act of kindness. She is excited to be working with DC Habitat this year!

Alaina D’Anzi

Alaina D’Anzi / Volunteer Services Coordinator

Alaina D’Anzi recently completed her first year of service with the AmeriCorps as a VISTA at Habitat for Humanity International. Prior to this, she worked as an Intern in the Office of the President at CARE. Alaina graduated from Georgia State University with a double major in Religious Studies and Political Science with a concentration in International Relations in May of 2015.

Peter Danelski

Peter is a theatre artist originally from Philadelphia. He is a graduate DeSales University’s Theatre and Philosophy programs. He gained his master’s defree in Theatre and Performance from Trinity College Dublin. As an actor, Peter has performed regionally and most extensively with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. As a director, he has worked regionally and in New York. He is an avid reader and writer.

Kate is originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She studied Sports Management at Temple University. She has always had an interest in architecture and hopes to follow her passion. In her free time, she likes to read, play basketball and get together with friends.

Julie and I grew up in Arlington, VA.  She studied Classics (Latin + Greek) at UVA and is still deciding what she wants to do when she grows up. This will be her second AmeriCorps year–last year she served in Orlando, FL–and her first with Habitat. She is excited to live in the city this year and learn some hands-on skills!

Peter Talkington

Peter Talkington / Construction Crew Leader

Peter Talkington was born in Austin, Texas. He moved around for much of his life but spent most of my formative years in Washington, D.C. He loves anything to do with film and music, as long as it’s not pop or country, and is a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loves his country and loves any opportunity to help it.

Alec White

Alec White / Construction Crew Leader

Alec grew up in the state of Georgia but recently moved to the Northern Virginia area. He is a recent high school graduate devoting his gap year to serve with Habitat for Humanity through Americorp. Next year Alec will be attending college at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, to study pre-med. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar and cheering for the Tar Heels.
